How to dispose of plasterboard sheets

We found 8 6x4 plasterboard sheets in our shed when we cleared it out over the weekend. They had been left by the previous owners behind the shelving units & are slightly warped at one end from how they were standing.

We have no use for them & it doesn't look like we can take them to the dump-my DH was there earlier today to dispose of other stuff- plus we wouldn't be able to get them in the car without breaking them up.

Does plasterboard need to be disposed of in any specific way, or do you think someone might be able to use it?

If they're unused and in good condition you could advertise on somewhere like freecycle. If you're disposing of them they do need to be got rid of a certain way - your council website will probably have details.

If you get someone to collect them to dispose of them, make sure they give you the correct paperwork to show they're not just flytipping it, or you could end up fined.

Why cab't you break them up and take them to the tip?

Our tip won't take plasterboard anymore, so don't think breaking it up would help much.

I will try advertising it somewhere, hopefully it can be used. There are no details about plasterboard on our council website, it's rather odd.

Thanks for the replies

Try Facebook page for your local area. Stuff posted on ours usually goes within minutes.

The tip will take it but will charge per bag/board. Usually you get one free bag. It appalling that they charge now for certain types of waste, even includes hardcore which has a resale value!
