Valspar pricing?

Well - how can you compare prices when B&Q don't publish prices on their website and their live chat tells me the prices for Valspar mixed paints vary depending on store size and when I specified a store told me to ring them?

Smoke and mirrors if you ask me.

Which paint were you looking at?

Our store has a huge sign with prices next to the mixing place - I never spotted it till I was actually ordering (product test so I had a voucher, otherwise would've been annoyed and suspicious at no obvious prices)

Anyway, £28 for 2.5l premium (£25 I think for non-premium) if that helps :)

Thanks - what's confusing about prices in a table or list by product and size? I haven't narrowed it down as I can't find meaningfully presented info on the B&Q website! I was trying to avoid having to spend my lunch break schlepping to a store.

I've used Valspar on an MDF cupboard - went on fine and got a decent finish on it.

It's so thin it's like the texture of single cream. But it actually went on wall ok. However I bought it as it was meant to be 'scrubbable' (staff members words) for dds room. There was a small mark made moving the furniture back and when I wiped it with a bit of damp kitchen roll the paint just wiped right off. I wouldn't buy it again in that basis.

I had a pot of Valspar Premium for the MN product test but didn't think it justified the price, I bought Dulux to finish off the room. I'd say it was a similar quality to the ordinary DIY Dulux emulsion.

There was an interesting post recently about the "thickness" of paint not really being related to its covering power as the manufacturers add thickeners to make it easier for DIY'ers.

I would agree Dulux Trade emulsion is great paint and worth the trip to a decorator's merchant to get it.

I've used valspar for all of the rooms in my home and also to paint some furniture and I have no complaints. Works amazingly and only needed one coat!
We had tried to use Dulux previously and it just didn't compare IMO.

wow do some internet research about it before you buy. "Mixed reviews" is the polite phrase I think. I personally think its awful paint and would never use it again, there are hundreds of reviews saying how dreadful it is. It does seem to depend on the type you buy (less bad reviews for the premium paint I think, and also for pale / off white colours - the reviews for deep / darker colours are terrible (one of which is probably mine!!)

@namechangedtoday15 I did use premium so that's probably why it turned out so well 
I did use some brighter optioned colours and even had a colour match for my DD room. It all turned out amazing!

@wowfudge if you do pay the few extra £££ for the premium I think it's probably the best option based on my experience

I don't think I'm going to buy Valspar. I'd be looking to match a Dulux colour which doesn't come in the finish we want, but frankly I'm not prepared to pay double the cost of a Dulux tester (I would want to check how good a match it was) and I hate the fact you can't just pick up a tester pot of any of the shades off the shelf. I'm going to the Homebase near work which does Dulux mixing instead.
