cost of outside steps

I've just had a quote for steps from our french doors to patio area (so around 1.5m x 1m) and that's apparently not even the materials, just the labour.

A long shot but has anyone had outside steps done recently and could tell me what they paid?

How much was the quote?

£600 plus VAT for labour. I though (maybe naively!) that it was the whole deal i.e. materials also.
