Help me choose front door colour

We are changing our white upv door to a composite door. Also adding in a full length glass side panel and a medium sized window beside it. We will be bricking up the bottom of the two large windows.

Any advice on door colour? Should it match our garage door colour, which is dark green (not our choice).

Our semi detached house is made of two tone reddish bricks. It has some wooden tile cladding half way up

We like this starburst door. And we would a glass side on the right hand side

I think black-brown colour may fit quite well as it would blend in with the cladding / tiles above the door.

Don't know what garage door colour would be then? I've heard front door and garage door shouldn't be same colours?

Something like this perhaps? Presumed I would pick white frame to the door but quite like the black-brown door having same colour as its frame

Would anyone recommend Chartwell Green? It would perhaps complement the dark green on garage door but not be too similar. Dear wife says she would associate chartwell green with a country cottage type home so we're not sure if it would suit our house

Ok, I like the dark green, it does not stand out too much. I would go with a color that is a warm dark to echo the brown strip above the door. There is already many segments to the house visualy.
Dark green, dark dark brown. The garage color would need to match.

I'm not sure about the black door, the brown one seems much better.

Garage to match otherwise it looks like the door has been done with some left over paint.

What has the other half of the semi done with theirs. It can look good if they both match.

To clarify, do you think both garage door and front door should be same colour?

I love the pale sage green, think it's lichen from farrow and ball. I'd do both front door and garage door with it.

It's a shame to go for a colour you're not keen on for the composite.

But on the other hand I think they'd look better matching. Can you not paint your garage door Chartwell green? It's a very nice colour, wish I'd chosen it for my composite.

Hmm - I'm not keen on a mock Georgian style door for a 60s or 70s house and would rethink the style. By saying the colour of the garage door is not your choice you imply you don't like it. It's your house though so go with a style of door you like. As for colour, you can always paint the garage door white and just have the front door in a colour you like.

Oh and dark brown window and door frames just say 80s estate house to me.

I think the door and garage need to match but if you don't like the garage colour I'd change that to you fave door colour. Not sure about the style though - agree with wowfudge

How about letting feng shui decide? It all depends on the direction your front door faces.

They also recommend a solid hardwood door not too much, if any, glazing.

Stand at your front door looking out with a compass (your iPhone will have one). Once you know direction, look up appropriate section in link above.

Personally I would go for a more modern style and choose a colour I liked, changing the garage door to match.

If the garage colour wasn't your choice, choose a colour for your expensive door and paint the garage.
