Re-skimming all ceilings - how long until I can paint?

Hi everyone,

I'm having all my ceilings re-plastered and wondered how quickly I can paint them? Also, do I need to do anything to prep the ceiling before putting on my paint?

When it's dry - i.e.has changed colour from dark pinky brown to light pinky brown. Paint it with diluted white trade emulsion - called a mist coat. Don't use PVA on it.
