Gas service - what does in entail?

Hi what do you expect to get when you get a gas service? I'm asking because ours was done yesterday by a gas safe engineer and I wasn't sure it was as thorough as I expected based on previous gas services with a different gas engineer

What did you ask for? Just a boiler service or for all the gas appliances in the property to be serviced? You don't mean a Landlord's gas safety inspection do you?

I thought he'd check the radiator to see if they're working properly too

No - I wouldn't expect that. Do you have radiators which aren't working properly? Did you tell the service engineer if there are issues?

If it is a boiler service they check the flue, emissions, clean inside, ignition, pipes heat up. Normally will ask about any issues. Whether they actually check radiators and tank depends if that is covered by the fee/policy.
