Moving to Warrington

Hello all,
My husband got a job with a company at Birchwood Business Park in Warrington and we are planning to move there this summer. As I am a mother of a 5 year old and a 1 year old I was wondering whether any Warrington mums could give me some advice on good schools and good areas for families to live?
We would like a nice area, family friendly with access to a park and not too rural. Also a good school nearby is important for us.
I have heard that Stockton Heath is a good place to live?
We currently live in Colwyn Bay.
Any suggestions? Thank you.

Avoid Chapelford! It's gone seriously downhill and the primary school is awful. Also avoid Orford, Bewsey, Dallam, Padgate etc.

Stockton Heath is lovely. Bridgfoot roundabout is a joke though so getting across to Birchwood from there could be interesting!

A lot of decent primary schools in Warrington but high school wise you don't want to be living near Penketh High or Thomas Boeteler. You need Great Sankey, St Gregs or Bridgewater High.

Kings Leadership Academy seems be doing well but it is very unconventional.

Isn't there a way to get to Birchwood from Stockton Heath cutting across Latchford and padgate? I'm sure I've come back that way from Bents before and passed Birchwood. My Warrington geography is terrible though, I just follow the sat nav, so ignore me if I'm totally wrong!!

I also have a child in Stretton St Matthew's! Also in the juniors. Hmm!

Sunny up north - yes, you go down Kingsway and across Manchester Road, then you turn right.

OP, just had a thought over my granola, blueberries & yoghurt (tres South Warrington doncha know!) if you want to know about the town, you can't do much better than read the Warrington Guardian. Obviously better to buy it (bargain at £1!) but they also have a great website.
Full of news of HS2, out city of culture bid, & of course property news Grin

I'm amused how many St Matthews mums are on here. Our children may indeed be friends. How would we ever know?!

Thank you very much all you are so helpful and kind! You have helped a lot with our search!
Sounds like Lymm and Birchwood would be better options of us in terms of proximity to Birchwood business park!
Thank you PJ Banana for your comment about the high speed rail line!
We are thinking to stay for a few days over Easter in South Warrington propably Lymm or Grapenhall to see what the area is like and get a feel about the place! Any suggestions on b&bs would be appreciated!
Thanks again 😀

The School House at Stretton is supposed to be nice; see their website.
