Anyone used a kitchen fitter for kitchen from company DIY kitchen?

Hi I am looking at getting a new kitchen and I tempted to get a kitchen from DIY kitchens lacquered mdf as they recommended on here and have overall good reviews. Has anyone had one fitted by kitchen fitter or handyman? How did it go? I spoke to one but his preferred kitchen is wren kitchens through joinery depot and the guarantee is really short. I decided on diy kitchens as magnet quote was 17k for 270cm by 370 cm l shape kitchen. Independent shop quoted early 20k for dry fit only no plumbing electrics. I had a really bespoke guy who said he could easily match the magnet but now I am not sure I should be spending as much as that for small kitchen with no island etc. I have looked at wickes howdens and want something a bit different.

We've had 2 online kitchens and had independent fitters / joiners to install. First one was from DIY and kitchen fitters were great (usually installed German kitchens and were impressed with quality).

Sounds like the fitters you've spoken to are looking for a bit of extra profit / benefit by persuading you to get a kitchen from places they have a trade account with. Just ask for "fitting only" prices.

Our builder recommended a fitter but his quote was too high. We got another via Rated People whose quote was very reasonable. Then the worktop supply company recommended a couple of people and we're going with one of them as he can also do the composite worktop installation too.

Agreed I think he is probably hoping to make bit on kitchen. Someone recommended pml handyman as also doing kitchen fitting so going to speak to them. Wowfudge are you local to sw17 as any recommendations appreciated on fitting front.

My kitchen was fitted without a problem. The units all came pre built and the fitting was cheaper because of that as well.

Not really heard of them. Try getting a price from diy-kitchens or units-online and see what their process come in at. Just make sure it’s a like for like quote, oak for oak, mdf for mdf, quality hinges/drawer mechanism, colour matched units and all that.

Dady2 - no, sorry, we're in Derbyshire. If you go into trade places which also do retail, they know the guys who do regular, good quality work. We're having Mistral composite for the island worktop and I was looking for a price to compare with a quote from Magnet. We're buying the worktops and the kitchen fitter is fitting them. Definitely no mark up there.

@Ramona diy kitchens was one I was looking at sorry for confusion. Their website seems quite easy to use and each product tells you type of material. @wowfudge will maybe try retail places but personal recommendations always seem better. Paul from evo kitchens has also contacted me so will take a look.

We're back to square one as there was something about the guy and his attitude to us neither of us liked. Shame as his quote was reasonable and his work looked good. Argh!

We used a kitchen fitter for our DIY kitchen. He said it was exactly the same as fitting a Howdens type kitchen, as units were all together etc. He also commented that the quality was better.

I meant to say, we also preferred this over buying a kitchen and fitting from the same company, as the fitter did all the wet goods, tiled the floor etc as wel.
