What playroom flooring?

So, tail end of massive house renovation where we are have a small playroom. Need to decide on which flooring to go for. We were thinking of an oiled wooden floor, but won't it get scratched and marked? 3 small children, lots of toys, dogs claws..don't want to be constantly nagging them to be careful in it so it doesn't scratch, but I can't think of an alternative. What do you have please?

We had a similar dilemma at the end of our renovation. Opted for cheap carpet in the end so that we wouldn't get stressed if/when it gets trashed and carpet also seems cosier to play on. It won't be a playroom forever either, so this also influenced our decision - we'll replace the carpet with something better when DD is older and the room becomes something else!

Hi OP, some good quality carpet tiles, would do the job. Also, they can be replaced easily.

Thank you, hadn't thought of floor tiles, though we had considered carpets. will have a look at carpet and c tiles. We are having carpet fitted elsewhere so wouldn't be hard to just extend it into this room. So much to think about!

We had carpet but it got very dirty. We had B and Q laminate put down by a carpenter inside much better choice. They have some nice modern colours e.g. greys, so if you don't want it as a playroom later on, the floor is ok

Mines got carpet running through from the lounge as there are double doors between the two rooms. Not had any problems with it getting trashed.

Karndean or similar?

We have Amtico Spacia (the cheapest range that Amtico do). Very practical and looks good (ours genuinely looks like wood until you get close but they do lots of others). You can always add a rug to make it more cosy.
