Howdens Lamona appliances - any good?

Just had a quote from Howdens for my kitchen. He has quoted for Lamona appliances which are really reasonable and come with a 2 year guarantee.

But are they any good?

We bought a kitchen from Howdens, the solid oak one, which we have been happy with. The Lamona double oven is a poor one. In 2019, we had to have the fan and element replaced. In 2020, we had to have the fan replaced. Now, in 2021, the element packed up while I was cooking Sunday lunch.

@Rhayader

Our rented flat has a complete howdens kitchen with lamona oven and hob. The over has hot spots and is impossible to bake in (and I am really good at baking).

The kitchen is really falling to bits - my landlord is changing it completely (weirdly with howdens again) but its only 8-9 years old, all of the cabinets are flaking away or shelves have fallen down etc. Ive actually had 3 lamona ovens in the last 1.5 years because they have always broken within warranty.

Howdens do have a REALLY cheap range that they market to Landlord's.

I put hodewns in my properties and never had a problem. Though I have a Lamona fridge now and hate it (not from Howdens). Mind you I had a Neff dishwasher and had to replace it after four years and again after another three - my cheap Beko one is so much better than either of the others.

I have had a Howdens kitchen for 7 years and it has worn well. I don't think Lamona are very good quality. I only had one Lamona appliance - the fridge freezer. Its perfectly functional but one hinge has broken on the door so you have to be careful to make sure its shut properly. I have a Neff dishwasher, a Siemens combi oven/microwave and a Britannia double oven as I think its worth spending more on ovens.

It’s always worth spending more to get a better brand. Bosch or AEG are far better snd their basic appliances are not that expensive. John Lewis own brand are ok too. Always buy a make with a decent aspirational name. Lamona is the exact opposite.

Look at Which for Best Buy recommendations. They have both highly priced and low priced appliances on their list. Prices can also be very different for the same appliance. But definitely go with quality. Buy cheap, buy twice is usually right.
