Help! Boiler not working, what to do?

My boiler is on the blink. It's past warranty (not by far) and I can't afford to pay someone to look at it right now.

The radiators downstairs stopped working earlier, but the upstairs ones were still on. DP fiddled with them and now the upstairs ones are off too!

Where do I start trying to solve this, without doing anything dangerous of course!

There's no fault code, could that maybe mean the system just needs bleeding?

Any help much appreciated!

It's a Viessmann, in case that makes any difference!

Have you checked the pressure?

DP has fixed it, fingers crossed. He fiddled with the switcher thingy (neither of us know what it's called) next to the hot water tank, and the radiators have come back on.

He doesn't know what he did really, but it seems to have worked!

Keeping fingers crossed they stay on, the house is freezing!

what colour is the cylinder?

Is the boiler a 100 or a 200?

I suspect your dh has fiddled with the 3 port valve. This may be faulty and is not switching over properly when the hot water is heated up to temperature. Unlikely to be a fault with the gas boiler.
