Can I put a chandelier in the kitchen?

At the moment it has one crappy pendant bulb and I don't want to be paying an electrician to be putting in one of those ikea station lights.

But I reckon I could change it to a chandelier

Anyone got one in the kitchen?

We have a modern black one

depends what sort of chandelier....some of them are very heavy and need to be fixed to the ceiling/joists as well as to the electrics.

If it's just a fancy pendant style you should be fine though.

It's a kitchen diner so we have led spots in the kitchen plus led strips under the wall cabinets.

oh...that's almost the same as the one we have in the dining room! :o

I have a ridiculously over the top chandelier in my kitchen which is otherwise very industrial/ plain. It's so ridiculous it's fabulous! Go for it

It's not hard to fit a chandelier, you have to be competent enough to find a joist, use a drill and be able to unwire and rewire a light fitting ...which is basically the same as a plug, but house wiring is black and red for neutral and live, instead of blue and brown.

If it is a chandelier with crystals, they will need to be cleaned and polished frequently.
