Is this Artex?

Hello everyone! We just bought a house and I'm looking for advice as to what is covering the ceiling and upper wall (see picture attached) in many of the rooms. On the ceiling you can see what look like join lines, making me think it's some kind of textured wallpaper. But no lines very visibly apparent on the wall (though the same pattern). I used a steamer to remove the wallpaper that was covering all of a bedroom wall (revealing the new textured covering on the wall), and the upper part of the wall was quite dusty after this. There does seem to be some evidence of it being a paper in different parts of the room (e.g. looks like you can peel it away) but around the windows it's chalky and the pattern doesn't seem as thick, although maybe this is due to painting! Any advice would be welcomed as i'm concerned it might be Artex. Thanks very much!

Is this Artex?

It actually looks like heavily painted textured wallpaper. Just see if you can scrape off a corner.

I'd get it tested to be on the safe side.

Looks more like anaglypta or woodchip to me

Like Villager I think you should try to lift a corner. It looks far more like paper than artex, but you never know. I think you may find the plaster and ceiling are in poor condition under the paper.

Vote for " chunky" wood chip with 15 layers of vinyl emulsion.
