Artificial grass

We have a small garden with 30m2 roughly as you go out the back door which we have put a playhouse and rubber tiles so the kids have a space to play. Then there is a retaining wall with steps leading to a grass area. It is slightly sloped with a flat area at the top and the grass is basically wrecked. The pathway up the top is sloped and it is constant mud. The fog has wrecked the rest and the whole lit is mud.
Would anyone tell me the pros and cons of artificial grass? It would be about 24m2. Can anyone recommend a company? Would this cost lots? I am in Scotland.

If you spend decent sums it can look very realistic. Up to a point - in the middle of winter not so much.

It's permeable so it will soak away. Far better than paving it all over.

It's practical and if you maintain it well the kids can go out and roll around 5 mins before you need to be somewhere and not get trashed.

It dries faster than real grass. Grass stains will not feature from 10 mins in the garden.

When it's hot and sunny it's warm underfoot which just feels weird.

You have to brush and hoover it. The latter will make you feel like a prize nob! 😂

If you let old leaves etc build up then you'll get weeds .

Household stuff like painting walls and washing oily bikes etc will result in marks that won't wash off / grow out so you have to treat it like carpet in many respects.

You will feel guilty about the bees all the time. We have huge troughs of lavender to offset the guilt but Scotland might need a more winter proof alternative.

It's brilliant, do it!

There are no cons. We did it a couple of years ago and our sodden muddy garden which was only usable between May and September is year round fantastic usable extra space
