ok to mix different lighting styles in the same room?

Has anyone got any thoughts or wisdom on whether it's ok to mix lights? It's for our kitchen diner.

Looking at triple island pendant, wall lights and chandelier/pendant (new half has quite high vaulted ceiling.

Will it look weird if none of the 3 are from the same range?
Here are the 3 I currently like but could prob find a chandelier in a brass finish if that would help....
Kitchen hardware is brass.

Or maybe a more simple chandelier.... it was DH who liked the cagey one

I think you need consistency of colour/finish in the same space - so stick to copper or brass instead of mixing them. That said, it depends what else you have in there which could help tie them together.

Does the new half with vaulted ceiling really need a chandelier? If it doesn't I wouldn't get one if it would be massively not in keeping with the rest of the room/house. You have wall lights and a pendant - do they not provide enough light?

I would do either the chandelier or the pendants over the island so that you have one feature. Otherwise, it might start looking messy.

Well we have a new large kitchen diner (about 50 sq m) and we have mixed it up. We have 3 copper and glass pendants (that I looooovvvvvee) over the island unit, then a large chrome ribbon chandelier over the dining table and a smaller ceiling mounted version of this in the snug area (although we only tend to use lamps here). And lots of spotlights too.

I didn't want it to look too samey, the 3 areas are quite distinct but (IMO obviously!) it all works really well.
