Doorbell help!

We got a new rockdoor fitted last year and we really love it , but we had to take down our doorbell as the new surround would've covered where it was on the wall. I am reluctant to drill a hole into my new door surround, and I think it might invalidate our guarantee but just now it's hard to hear people knocking and we need a bell! What does everyone else do?

I think i'm probably being a bit precious about my front door but I do love it and don't want to hurt it!

I asked the door fitters to fit ours - that way the warranty was still valid as they were doing the work & recommending the right product

We used command strips to secure the button to the outside of our door in a rental property which worked well. We had the kind of bell that had the speaker plugged into the wall if that makes sense.

Get a wireless doorbell. You stick the button bit on the door frame outside and then put a wireless noise box inside. Mine has a choice of 20 tunes.

Following for ideas- we have tried a couple of wireless ones but they just don't seem to work! Reluctant and not skilled enough to fit a 'wired' one, but I think that might have to be the next step. We're starting to annoy people by leaving them on the doorstep when they can see us inside!

Sometimes there are things like beams, steels and large appliances which can interfere with the signal from a wireless bell, but they usually work. For about £15 you can one from Amazon with two plugs in chime receivers. Just stick the bell push to the door, or frame or wall next to the door.

Ime there will always be people who never the ring the bell, even if it's as plain as the nose on their face in front of them!

email the makers and ask if you can drill a hole for a bell. I expect you can.

My doorbell is stuck on with good old blu tack. It has been up for 6 years, I removed it once for the frame to be painted, and once dry, stuck it back up again.

I have a wireless doorbell because I can plug the chime in anywhere in the house meaning I can take it upstairs with me if I am expecting a parcel or move it to the kitchen when I am cooking.

Meant to say, I use a command hook every year on my painted front door to hang my Christmas wreath and remove the hook every time without marking the paintwork. They are an incredible invention.
