Choosing an architect

We're looking to take on quite a big renovation/extension project and need to find an architect. Would you say it's better to use an architect with less experience (c5years) with whom you share the same aesthetic or a more experienced architect who typically takes on traditional builds.

The project would be to add a modern extension/redesign the layout of a victorian property.

We're in the midlands so have less options by the looks of things.

I would take the less experienced as 1) you share same aesthetic, 2) he has more recent qualifications and therefore more up to date with current practices and future trends 3) more likely to work harder for you to get your project under his belt....

That's how we chose our architect plus gut feel, which you can't really quantify, so far so good.

Thanks - confirms my gut feeling. Just need to secure the house now!
