Harvey Jones? Any experience and thoughts?

We are thinking of using HJ for replacing our kitchen. Good so far in terms of communication etc but not sure how good they are in project management and service quality?

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

We had them. The kitchen looks lovely and the design was fab, but a few bits were shoddy - measurements were taken for a cupboard ignoring existing plug sockets which had to be moved, wrong appliances were ordered, kitchen door needed to be re-hung.

It was all okay as we had builders on site too, but could have been very awkward. They also didn't apologise e.g. Wrong appliances - told to sell on eBay and buy what we wanted - no recognition that we would inevitably lose money from this route.

Almost used them, but opted for John Lewis of Hungerford instead. HJ have the most beautiful brochures but I was a bit wary of the hard sell we were getting, so I basically negotiated what they said was their best discount (25%) and asked JLH to beat it, which they did.

We went to the Oxford one. I think the particular guy we dealt with left (which didn't help with sorting out the issues!)

We have recently had a Harvey Jones kitchen fitted. We used the Upper St branch. Very helpful. Definitely a bit of a hard sell etc. but most of the kitchen companies we spoke to took a similar approach. There is no obligation to buy after all. In the end we got a healthy discount off their initial prices so have ended up paying what we feel is a fair price. designer/salesman was very patient with our indecisiveness and liaised with our architect on various issues. They have been very straightforward about fixing the few minor issues that we have had. Kitchen looks lovely.

Thanks for the reply. We did feel the hardsell and a bit uncomfortable with it so in the end we went for Tom Howley. We though it would be massively more expensive than HJ but tunrned out not much more after discount.

Almost went for HJ Linear, they gave us a quote of 26k which came down to 21k as a hard sell. But we preferred the look of Schuller german handleless kitchens as we got more cabinet space in this style.

Linear and inflame kitchens look great in a magazine and showroom, but on actually visiting the showroom we found the cabinet sizes are quite small as the in-frame structure takes up more space so you end up with smaller cabinets. I’d def advise trying out different designs and comparing drawer / cabinet widths with other kitchen styles that are not in-frame.

The other thing that did put us off HJ in the end was the hand painted element. I have two little DCs and with all their toys and heavy handling I would always be worried about them chipping off the paint on the cabinet which you would then need to re-paint. So for all these reasons we decided to go with german style Schuller kitchens and they are totally amazing in bespoke design with genius storage solutions

I have HJ linear. Fulham showroom.
Had a bit of an issue at first with finding contractor, as they only do dry fit.
They found me a contractor that could do both, but if then felt that I was dealing with 2 companies. And that I kind of had to say yes to their contractors price.
Anyway- contractor was great.
Hand painting was a faff, wish I'd been away for that part
I love it, love the design and the quality/strength, but it's only a year old and there are already a few chips on the paintwork. And I don't have toddlers barging into it, it's not really a heavily used kitchen.

They seem quite reputable. Don't know of anyone that has used them though.

Don’t use Harvey Jones. The product is at best average, it doesn’t wear well, and it’ll end up being significantly more expensive than they say. Also see above for the downgraded appliances. They tried to get away with lower spec appliances on ours - even the sink was downgraded!
