Radiators with high skirting boards

We have beautiful high skirting boards in our living room, see picture (DVD box for scale). We need to replace the current radiator which is in the wrong place. It has been fitted on long pipes above the skirting so it isn't damaged but you can't see the skirting either (other pic). Anyone got a good solution? The room is 4m square so needs a large rad, ceiling height 12 ft and decor a blend of mod/ trad.

What about a pair of uprights at opposite ends of the room?

I had thought of a vertical, but because of the furniture and the bay window we couldn't easily put in a pair. Do you think a single would be warm enough?

If you go on a website that calculates BTUs and buy a sufficiently powerful one, then one should be fine (rather than a pair).

Try a company called Geyser designer radiators, I've used them in the past.
They have a BTU calculator on their website so you can work out what size of radiator you will need and the staff are very helpful.
You can also get pipe extensions/covers for your pipework to finish the job off.

Second the idea of a vertical rad. Hudevad do flat panel radiators in lots of sizes, check the BTUs of your current one (is it double or single panel?) and aim to match that.

Current one is double and really large, though I reckon with being old it might be less efficient. Will investigate those links thanks everyone.
