Toys!!

Our house is on the market and we have loads of toys and are sick and tired of putting all of them away whenever we have a viewing. What does everyone else do? Is it ok to leave some out?

Wouldn't really bother me, but then I bought a place where we could see mousetraps, damp and other problems in plain sight - a few cheerful toys lying around would have been a much happier atmosphere!

Seriously though so long as they're not spread all over the floor dangerously or making it hard to look at things properly, some toys aren't going to destroy a viewing for people. A few toys here and there help buyers visualise it as a lived-in home rather than a showroom.

We used to sweep them all away into expedit boxes. Fine to have them visible but tidy, not fine to have them strewn all over the floor IMO.

My method with the baby was having a select few favourites in a little basket down the side of the sofa. I'd get them out specially to distract him while I cleared the rest, then did the favourites last. But we also priced competitively so that we didn't have to stay on the market long!

We put them in plastic tubs and stacked them in cupboards along with things like clothes airers. One viewer wanted to look in the cupboards too (they are all built inside the walls) which defeated the object a bit
