Thinking of having one installed but the fireplace man is not convinced. He says they smell. Do they?

Yes they do. We used our very expensive one about twice. I keep thinking about trying it again, but to be honest it looks just as nice with tea lights in it.

yes and no. Burning the fuel on its own, they dont smell. But you can buy nice oils to add to the fuel and then it does smell, but its lovely.

I've been thinking about one too. Cam I ask where you bought yours from?

I've been considering one, too, as I want a real fire but DP is unwilling to fork out hundreds of pounds to get the chimney relined. I might just get a beautiful lantern instead, because the ones that actually give out heat cost a fortune, and they use up lots of oxygen and create more condensation and have been known to cause horrible burns with careless use. But I really want a nice fire.

That's where I was looking at. I fancy the black label freestanding grate. Thank you, I'll pop up to showroom for a look.

Mine doesn't smell at all. We got ours from Imagin Fires. Fuel is very expensive though so do buy in bulk!

They've very expensive, it would cost the same in my case to line the chimney!

I've bought mine from here www.biofires.com/19-christmas-shop . The one I've got is the DIY Bio Ethanol Insert for Electric Fireplaces as I had a faulty gas fire taken out and put this in its place.

I don't use it much as the fuel is pricey but it kept the room warm the other day when I had a new boiler put in as i had no heating.
