Wadhurst or surrounding area?

Hi all
We are currently London based with our 3 dcs and considering moving to Wadhurst. We had a very quick look at the weekend and it looks like a possibility. I just wondered if anyone lived in the area and what they thought of it. Uplands looks nice, school wise and the primary looks ok. Do you have any chance of getting into the kent grammars? DS1 is very bright so might consider if possibility.
any info gratefully received!

The commute to London is quite long but you will get a seat!

nice area, dont know about schools as mine went to T.Wells grammars.
houses are much cheaper there because the commute is further. but handy for T.Wells, country side bewl water, bedgebury and beaches

my teenagers found it hard living in the sticks, we constantly had to drive them into town,pick them up late at night etc

thanks all, I am a bit worried about the teenage years and them being able to meet friends etc. Eldest is 9 so also might find it difficult leaving friends etc. It would mean we didn't have an enormous mortgage, bigger garden, less pollution. Weighing up the pros and cons at the moment

We made the move from London with children of four and eight.

The upsides are, it's beautiful, there is a lot to do, if you want to, driving is a dream, lots of old fashioned stuff like summer fetes, Christmas fairs, etc.

Downsides are, all the amenities can be further away. Including supermarkets, DIY stores, clothes shops, etc. It doesn't take long to get used to it, but you do notice the lack of convenience to start with.

And yes, teenager years get tricky. That time between them wanting to go out, but not having yet learnt to drive. Lots of ferrying around. Taxis cannot be got at the drop of a hat. Often 24 hours notice is required, depending upon the time of day.

Yes, very. I know far more people where I live now than I did in London. Working helps. And of course meeting people through schools.

I love the countryside, though. Always have.

To be honest, I had the feeling for years that I was on a permanent holiday! I'm used to it now, but I still pinch myself sometimes.

But it took time. Making that adjustment from everything being just around the corner.

Hi we have a 2 yr old and a 4 yr old and looking at moving to wadhurst. I am interested to know more about the area and the commute as the websites say it’s 58 min to London Bridge. We were weighing up Tunbridge Wells TC or Wadhurst but worried the town will be quite busy and less of a community.
