I've got the ubiquitous box balls in tall black planters & a nice slate house number.

Any other ideas?.

I hate hanging baskets though.

Depends on the house, tbh.

Is the front kept tidy? Front door nicely painted etc? That makes a huge difference.

Yes, it's a newbuild. I don't like the outdoor mat because it's a bit twee.

I want a galvanised steel one like garden trading sell.

This is it.

I like those lights that are up and down lighters but now the house numbers out there it wouldn't look balanced with a light each side of the wall.

Plant a low hedge either side of the porch and on the left, where there's more space, plant something to climb up and over the front of the porch.

wowfudge · 03/12/2016 09:30

When I say low hedge go for something like an evergreen cotoneaster for year round colour.

gettingtherequickly · 03/12/2016 09:46

Put a coloured door in.

FrickOnAStick · 03/12/2016 13:47

Yes, I agree with wow. A low, clipped hedge in the narrow border to add some green and break up the harsh lines. Maybe box (again).

What have neighbours done?

FrickOnAStick · 03/12/2016 13:53

Nice lights either side of the door. Garden trading do some lovely ones. Jim Lawrence if budget stretches further.

FrickOnAStick · 03/12/2016 13:56

I don't think it would look unbalanced with the name/number slate and a pair of lights.

Another hedge/plant vote from me.

Walk around the neighborhood and pinch all the nice ideas you see.
