How to clean floorboards post plastering....

Just had a complete rewire and replaster which has resulted in alot of dust and general mess....now while we have decided to lay porcelain floor tiles in the majority of the area we will also be laying carpet in the lounge. Question is how, other than sweping, we could give the floorboards a thorough clean? We've already swept lots and there's still lots of dust

Have you mopped?

Hoover, mop, Hoover, mop.....repeat.

Took us ages, it seems to last forever but eventually rid of it!

Is the plaster actually dried on rather than it just being dust, i.e. were splatters of wet plasters dropped and left? Our stupid plasterers did an entire ceiling without putting any covers down. It was a mess. Only way to get it off was to scrub the floor with a wire brush and then stain it again. It was really upsetting and ruined the floor although we managed to rescue it to a certain degree.

The last of it will come off with a green nylon scourer, used wet, and the slurry wiped off with a damp rag.

btw plaster dust may damage a domestic vacuum. You can get a builders canister vac for about £50

Buy a spare cartridge filter and some enormous bags at the same time. The bags are not essential but will delay clogging of the filter with plaster dust.

This took us ages as well, it's a wash wipe repeat scenario. It does go eventually.

Oh man... I'm looking at my bedrooms which are being plastered and there is plaster ALL OVER THE FLOORS :-(
