Would you live if you had close family in Norfolk, Shropshire and Cornwall? Retirement age. Got about £500k to spend, 3 bedrooms min. Must have walkable amenities (shop, doctors etc) and some sense of community. Any suggestions?

The close family are your children? Do you see them equally? What do you want in terms of property?

Well that was rubbish of me - you've said three bedrooms and walkable amenities. Cotswolds, Oxfordshire?

Road or rail connections more important?

Birmingham or close south of it might be better connected

Road. Pretty much never use the train.
