We have moved into a house tht needs EVERYTHING doing. Before the move we were excited and had lots of ideas, now we are here is all feeling a bit much. We need to work out a plan of what needs doing first (rewiring, new boiler, knocking down walls) but have literally no idea what comes first. We have 30 ish k and should get another 20 ish in Feb. Then rest will be saving tip we have enough to do something. Any guidance or speaking from experience gratefully received!

heavy work first (drains, knocking out walls, ceilings, fireplaces, outside digging and concreting)

Mend the roof

Insulation

Windows and doors*

then dusty work - wiring, plumbing, heating

Strip the walls

then you can have it plastered

clean

clean

bathroom and kitchen

then you can move in

Initial decoration

clean

clean

floors

*have the doors fitted on lift-off hinges so you can remove them to prevent damage or paint splashes
