High gloss dining table any good?

I am looking for contemporary dining table and liked high gloss tables.
What is your experience with high gloss dining table? Are they strong, durable or should I go for solid oak tables. Which shops would you recommend?

We got one from made.com, it had a very minor bit of damage to it. When we got the replacement we ordered some toughened glass to cover it.

Still immaculate, still love it and very glad we bought the glass!
