House purchase advice!

Buying and selling through the same estate agents. Our vendors are lovely and all the legals are done with that.

Our buyers are hugely disorganized. Their mortgage survey happened two weeks after offer but money only hit their solicitors account four weeks after they were instructed. All their enquiries are almost answered (asides one certificate). Just as they were getting to the end, they book a full structural survey.

Responsible behaviour with bad timing or stalling? We're keen to move to the new place as we'd been waiting for a house to come up on that street and only sold because of it.

EA not been very helpful...!

Had only bought in Scotland before (where its far easier!) and the system in England seems very back to front.

Advice please?

Bad timing. There are far cheaper ways that they could stall than paying for a structural survey.

How else could they stall if everything else is done though?

People can stall the chain simply by just not responding quickly. You ask a question, solicitor writes to their solicitor, who writes to their client. Who then takes 4 days to write back, uses second class post.....etc.
Things can take a long time!
If your EA is the agent for both then I would get them on side, ask them for weekly updates, and ask them to chase x,y,z - but ultimately your chain is only as fast as its slowest link and to an extent you just have to be patient.

Think I'm just worried about the survey - thats usually the death of many a house transaction. It's a two up two down and I don't expect anything worse than what was on our original but you never know with some people! I'd have sooner them do the survey earlier (we did ours immediately after they did their mortgage one!) so that if there are issues we wouldn't have gone through the entire process by now!
