Hi we are getting a building an extension next spring Is it too early to start getting kitchen quotes? Would like to start writing down a budget.

Also, has anyone got a shaker kitchen from DIY kitchens? What we the carcouses like? Would you recommend?

Thanks

Thank you very much, that is really helpful.
Time for me to get out the tape measure and graph paper methinks!

They have several larder options on their website

We had a kitchen from DIY in our last house. I would definitely recommend them. The cabinets are very good quality - our fitter hadn’t used them before and was very impressed. We had The Norton Shaker. It’s the same style as the Stanbury but a wood door rather than painted MDF so the Stanbury is smooth whereas Norton has a wood grain. Both are great looking kitchens and, on reflection, I would have been equally happy with the slightly less expensive Stanbury.

We used Units Online in our current house because of some quirks with our house that meant DIY wouldn’t have been suitable. We needed the shortest of the three tall unit sizes and some bespoke sizes. Units Online could accommodate this and could make cabinets to any required depth for no extra cost.

My friend is currently planning a new kitchen and, because she only needs standard sized cabinets, I have recommended DIY over UO. I found UO to be more expensive, though still good value compared to other companies. We used Howdens for some cupboards in the utility and they feel very flimsy in comparison to both DIY and UO.

Good luck with your new kitchen Smile
