Anyone caved and put the heating on yet?

We are trying to put it off as long as possible and will be rationing it when we do. I have put heat reflector sheets on the back of the radiators and got the draft excluders out. Wearing layers and under snuggle blankets to keep warm, but it's only October.... Any tips or have you all had it on for weeks?

Our system doesn't heat hot water separately so unless it's very cold, we never turn on central heating, but circulate hot water through the rads for a couple of hours am and pm We're in Cornwall, so it's mild and damp. Then we light the woodburner for proper warmth,as needed. This year it's been lit twice so far, more for comfort and joy and the light than necessity.

I don't 'cave', i just put it on when it's cold. I have never felt the need to sit freezing and fight against my boiler Confused

Yes, since Tuesday. It was only 8° here that afternoon and I felt freezing and miserable for over a week before I put it on. Currently set for an hour 6-7 a.m. and 3 hours between 6 and 10 p.m., with an hour's break between 7.30 and 8.30 p.m.

Same here. I'm not a martyr.

We don't turn it off. Set at 16. If it's cold it comes on. If it's very cold we lay a fire or turn it up, or put on a woolly in the day time

Will renovate soon and will have an app for different zones.

Ours is set to come on when the temperature drops below 20.

But DH (sitting in shirt sleeves) keeps turning it up which drives me demented. Put a sweater on!

So I've turned it off at the control. He won't notice because he thinks it's on......
