Completely clueless (new kitchen )

I desperately want to change our kitchen we just bought the house in july and the kitchen is the cheapest possible ikea one and i have the feeling that the owners installed it by themselves . I just dont like anything about it is white and blue and the flooring is blue as well (!) .
My question is where do i start ? I would prefer getting it designed and fitted by the same company as i dont have much experience with tradesmen so i dont think finding a fitter will be straightforward.

Well don't go with ^^ that chancer! You have to pay to advertise on here. There's a really helpful lessons learnt kitchens thread on here. An independent builder or kitchen fitter locally might be a good place to start to get quotes - do you have a local Facebook group you can ask for recommendations on? That's how we found the builder who did our bathroom, and he recommended various independent places to choose tiles and stuff like that, and then he went and ordered with his trade discount.

Depending on your budget, ikea actually get pretty good reviews for their kitchens. Wickes and howdens can also be good (I've seen mixed reviews of Howdens).

If you have no idea of the look you want, then Pinterest can be helpful.

I was just about to say the lessons learned thread is a very good read too !

One bit of advice I can give is to have very plain flat doors to the cabinets. ridges and ornamental doors trap dust and grease.

If you go onto the wickes site, they have a kitchen planner so you can play around with units etc to find an idea of what layout you would like. Go and talk to several independent design companies as they often have fantastic ideas. Decide what look of units you like and then look on pinterest for ideas for wall colour/tiles/flooring/worktops etc.
