Please help me increase the trains frequency on Wimbledon/Sutton Loop!

Hi everyone

This is a plea to help! :))

I have posted a number of times here about moving to Sutton/Carshalton area, I got brilliant responses, visited the area and absolutely loved it! But I am really concerned about my commute to work - I need to get to Blackfriars and Thameslink only has a train every 30 mins, so at the moment I can't find a solution how to arrange my work hours and the nursery/childminder...

There is a Thameslink consultation at the moment about the new timetable but unfortunately there are no changes to Wimbledon/Sutton Loop trains frequency.

I have started a petition on Change.org to increase the frequency of trains to 4 trains per hour during the peak times. The result of the petition will be sent to Thameslink consultation email address, so if there are a good number of supporters, there is a change that they will listen and give us more trains!

The link to the petition is here

Please, please, help me by supporting it! it will only take a couple of minutes of your time :)

I dont understand - why is 15 mins a problem?

Nice idea, but thameslink are in business to make money not to run extra trains.

That said, i am outside the south east so a half hourly service is very frequent by my standards

It's that 15 mins that are longer than the nursery works ((
At the moment, I can't leave work 15mins ealier to catch the earlier train, and the next one leaves in 30 mins, which means I am 10-15 mins late to pick the child before the nursery closes...

Thameslink have a consultation going on at the moment about possible changes in the timetable, so I am hoping if enough people sign the petition they will see that more frequent trains are needed on this line...

Isn't this something you should have checked out before moving there? Maybe a nursery closer to work woudl be easier than getting Thameslink to change their timetable?

Suggest posting on some local FB pages or forums as you will get more buy in.

I've signed it! That whole line is dreadful- constant cancellations Nd delays. I took 2 hours to get to Sutton earlier this week, there's one direct train daily that takes 25 mins.

Hi, many thanks, I will look into where else I might post it :)
I have written the previous response slightly incorrectly (tried to amend it but could not find out how) - it should have said "I would be 10-15 mins late" instead of "I am" - I haven't moved in the area yet :) just very seriously thinking about it, but this is what mainly holds me back at the moment!

Then don't move...

Plenty of us are on lines with a half hourly service into London. You arrange work and childcare accordingly, and don't expect train lines to sort out your problems for you.

FWIW whenever I've got that line the trains have been half empty so I doubt Thameslink will think there's unfilled demand for a 15 minute service.
