Free standing bath in bedroom

We are about to move to a period house. I generally like en suite bathrooms, but to gain the space would involve upsetting the proportions of the bedrooms. I was, therefore, thinking it might be nice to have a free standing bath in one of the bedrooms, and maybe a shower in one of the others. I would like something attractive and tasteful (Georgian house). There is plumbing already in place as there are already washbasins and a (sad!) shower in place.

Has anybody done this who can give any advice or recommendations?

Don't do it - it looks hopelessly naff, someone trying to lend a little boutique hotel chic to their home. It will also mean your bedroom is filled with steam and humidity - bathrooms have extractor fans for a reason.

I think they are very strange Confused and must cause all sorts of issues regarding sloshed water and steam.

I stayed in a cheap b and b once with a shower cubicle in the corner of the bedroom. It is a completely impractical idea.

And looks ridiculous too.

I think its one of those things that looks quite nice initially, in a kind of boutique hotel way, when the room is pristine, clean and tidy. In reality, as others have said, I'm guessing it would be rather impractical, cold (you'd have to have the whole bedroom rather hot), it would just become a dumping ground for wet towels and possibly clothes that should be hung up!

Horrible. We ruled out two houses where this had been done. It looks really tacky and is impractical

I really don't understand this trend.

We don't have an en-suite and it seems fine to me (although I don't think I've ever had one in my whole life).

Something like this where's there's a divide might work. But I'd hate it - I'd have to have the bedroom door locked in case anyone wandered in. That would take the whole room out of use while I was in a bath. I love big steamy baths - so that's the curtains, wallpaper etc ruined....

I also looked at a house that had a shower in the corner of a bedroom and just thought - yuk.

Thanks everybody for your practical advice - I may need to have a rethink!

Also if you have a bath or shower tray in a room, you can't have any normal sockets within 3m of the edge due to safety regulations (steam/condensation and splashing/touching when you're wet)

No no no no no please don't!

I hate baths in bedrooms. Completely impractical.
