Broken locking mechanism on double glazed window - how easy to fix?

The locking mechanism has got stuck onto 'lock' on my window. It's a multi point lock (has brass bars that come out either side).

It seems that the brass bar on one side has got stuck as when you turn the handle it doesn't come open. It opens on the other side.

It seems like something has failed in the locking mechanism but I don't know what?

How can I replace what's broken inside the window? And how much would it cost?

there will be a specialist repairer of plastic windows and doors in your town. There are lots of them around. There is a reason for that.

Best to ask around for somebody who has a personal recommendation. Failing that, use a local firm that has been in business for at least five years (you can check at Companies House (only the gov.uk site, not one of the scammers) free.

Thanks piglet. Having done some research it looks like it's going to be quite pricey to repair as the window is locked closed. If it had broken when the window was open or would have been a much easier job.

I'll contact the company who fitted them and see if there are any local recommendations too.
