Internal doors - help!

Advice/recommendations on internal doors please.

Having loft conversion done (master bedroom) and to save space, having all pocket doors.

Rest of house has reclaimed solid wood panelled doors, but worried they'll look a bit weird in sliding pocket plus I'll need a fire door so think I'll be buying new.

So question is whether I try to match the older style downstairs, or just have much more modern ones in loft (general style we're going for up there is quite minimal and grey with touches of raw metal) give that you'll never see them alongside one another if you see what I mean.

Also, there appear to be a thousand different door sites selling identical looking doors - anyone got any recommendations/places to avoid?

I'd go for sleek plain doors and minimal handles on this new floor - don't try to match .
Take advice from your installer as to which gives smoothest and quietest action, and go with that. At the end of the project that's the bit that matters over prices/ delivery offers/weird incentives per se ...

Think its down to personal choice, but just to say, we've got a pocket door in an extension and its a 1930s house so all the doors are oak panelled - and we've put the same one on the pocket door. The door still has a frame on and architrave around it and so just looks like a normal door - so you can do it if you want. I was worried like you it would look odd but it doesn't. It has a different handle though (not a lever handle, it has a small knob).

As an aside, the pocket door is ace - such a space saving idea.

What one plan said. Don't try to match , it won't work .

Thanks all. Installer has pretty much said I can choose whatever doors I want (the pocket door system will take any of them) hence my quandry!

Am inclining to sleek and minimal at the moment. Perhaps like this:

Palermo is unfinished, so woudl you stain/ varnish / paint ?

What the wood in the rest of the house and in your loft extension ? You said the style was grey and minimalist, how woudl the oal work with that ?

with a loft conversion i think you will find all internal doors will then have to be fire doors.
A lot of people buy cheap ones then get it signed off and then put the other back in

That's not a lot of use in the case of a fire , is it ?

Fire doors are not there for the benefit of the building control officer from the council . They are there to give you and your family enough time to get out the house.

Then shouldn't every door in the house be this regardless of loft conversation or not?

Just need fire door to main loft room - other doors (between bedroom and dressing room/bathroom) don't need to be fire doors. All the examples I showed had matching fire doors.

I am a bit worried the oak will not match with light grey walls and darkish oak floors. Perhaps better to go with white painted doors?

Are the ceilings quite low compared to the rest of the house ? If so, might be better to go for fewer finishes . So yes,white painted doors .
