Waterproofing a bath panel?

Is that even possible? We have bought a lovely wooden bath panel, but I can already see that it's going to get splashed.

How can I waterproof it to stop it warping?

What kind of wood is it? We have western red cedar which is naturally waterproof and is used outside in our fence as well. It's early days yet but it seems to be coping of with the 2 boys splashing about.

Sorry water resistant not water proof.

Wax or varnish.

I think I would do 2 coats of varnish, then 2 layers of wax.

It's this panel ( I'll try to add a pic) , still not sure what it's made of though. We returned the first one as the middle section started to lift after only a week, I assumed it was faulty. Only we've not had the new one put on yet, and I can clearly see where the water splashes under the bath, so it will get wet. It's where the shower screen ends and as you wash your hair the water naturals goes down your arms and off your elbows (I've studied it )

What sort of varnish and wax? I don't want to make a right hash of it.

If you want to waterproof it, then use yacht varnish. I don't know why you would use varnish and wax together.

Does it even need any extra protection - the product info states it is extremely durable.

wowfudge this is where I'm not sure, I assumed the first one was faulty as it lifted where the centre piece is. Just worried this one will warp too and it will be my fault for getting it wet.
