Range Cookers

Oh wise ones...
I am in the process of buying a house, it needs new kitchen & I am going around in circles.
I would love a range cooker and so far have my eye on Rangemaster Elan 110cm dual fuel. All reviews look good.

I've also just discovered Aga Masterchef 110cm dual fuel, which I actually prefer due to two full sized ovens.

If you have a range cooker, which one & do you recommend it?

I'm looking as well, about to have the kitchen done, I hadn't seen the age before but it looks good. In addition to the two full sized ovens, grills and hobs do you know if it has a proofing drawer?

It looks great, but really concerned about lack of reviews & the ones I can see on here aren't particularly good. Rangemaster Excel

We've just ordered a rangemaster professional 90. Following with interest 😀

I inherited an old version of the Rangemaster 90 dual fuel when we moved into our house. We have since redone the kitchen but kept the cooker as we were really pleased with it (and a new one would have been an additional expense). Ours has a griddle plate which fits on the top which we use a lot, and a wok ring for the major burner.

The only slight issue is that the grill is quite hard to light but I think this is probably due to its age and the fact that I don't clean it alot! The fan oven on the right is relatively narrow so I have learnt to make sure that large casserole dishes fit before turning it on. Having said that, it has a lot of shelves so the capacity is huge. I know this doesn't apply to you as you're going for a wider one...

If I had to replace, would probably just pick the same thing again. In an ideal world I'd have a bigger one, but I haven't got the space. I also know someone who works for Aga Rangemaster and they seem to put a lot of engineering effort into the products which impressed me.

This is the one we have. I love it! I love the oven sizes. I love how useful the second oven is - can be used as normal, fan forced or as a grill. I love the colour. I love the size. It's my dream oven.

I had a rangemaster professional plus 100 duel fuel in previous house, it was lovely. Brought it with me to new house which sadly has no gas. Just waiting for a plumber to quote me to still install it

I've got a rangemaster 90 duel fuel too and love it! It came with our house but we've already decided that when we do the kitchen we won't change it.

Apparently you have to get them serviced. Anyone know anything about that?

I found this on the Rangemaster site but would be interested to know what others have done. We have the added complication that our gas supply is LPG which not all fitters/servicing people can deal with.

Servicing is the same as you would for your gas fire or boiler. I went for the induction as I think the heat is more predictable. I have a heavy Le crueset kettle which heats up so fast on the induction hob. Plus it cools down really quick also.

We've just installed an Aga Masterchef XL. Only a few weeks in, but so far I love it! :-)

I'm pleased you love it! I am now swaying between Aga Masterchef & Rangemaster Excel.

I still haven't decided on which cabinets style OR colour...

I have a range master dual fuel. I can't stand it. The main oven is gas (which I hate), nothing cooks in said times, it looses heat quickly every time you open the door so makes cooking a roast take ages. the electric oven is too small to be useful. The top is hard to clean as it has lots of nooks and crannies. I inherited it with the house. Can't wait to change it.

What do you think you'll get instead? Keep a range style or something different?

I currently have 5 ring separate hob and double built in oven.

My mum has got two built in ovens (can't remember the make) and an induction hob. I think i would do the same. I love the look of ranges but hers are so much easier to clean, and look lovely in her modern kitchen. I thought it would be weird not having a gas hob but I actually love cooking at hers.
