What paint do i need to paint plastered walls inside conservatory?

Just that really. We've just had our 10yr old conservatory replaced. Which type of paint do i need to paint plastered walls and bulkhead inside our new conservatory.

I was going to just use bog standard emulsion but then i read a few threads with people saying that anti-mould or bathroom paint to reduce mould from condensation (we had lots of mould and condensation before in old conservatory). My DH wants to use the leftover kitchen paint in there, being lazy and tight frugal. So what should i do?

Diluted matt emulsion as a mist coat then a couple of coats undiluted. If you have a condensation issue it's better to ventilate and to heat in winter. Treat the source not the symptoms.

if you had lots of damp and condensation, you need to deal with that.

Two common causes are wet washing inside, and the doors from the house into the conservatory being left open so that warm, humid air from the house can diffuse in. When it cools condensation will form. most often on the glass.

Ventilate the conservatory well to the outside air.

Conservatories are not built to the same standard as houses, and insulation is nowhere near as good. This means that unless you have money to burn, it will always be nearer the outdoor temperature.

Piglet - oh yes we did use the old conservatory as general dumping ground and to dry washing oops . We definitely won't be doing that with the new one! So do you think standard emulsion would be ok to use then?

If for some reason you need a very durable paint, have a look at masonry paint, which stands up to rain and harsh weather when used outdoors.

The local wallpaper shop sell a anti mould additive that you can add to any paint it only costs 5 pound to treat 5 litres of paint. It might be worth getting to give you piece of mind
