Cash Buyers....... Yeah right

Long story short, I sold my house in May to cash buyers. Dropped the price by 10k to accomodate such wonderful buyers. Well they have turned out to be a complete nightmare.

They have delayed and delayed and delayed, now they won't sign the exchange until we have removed all the plant pots from the garden.

I've told my solicitor in no uncertain terms to tell the buyer to go f herself and i've pulled out - on the 11th hour. Please tell me I have done the right thing!

Cash buyers are often a nightmare. If they use a no sale no fee solicitor it can often mean they stump up no money until very close to the end of the transaction - so they keep viewing houses. Taking their time. Wanting huge discounts. Some choose not to have searches or surveys at any point.

A mortgaged buyer commits hundreds possibly thousands of pounds within the first couple of weeks - survey, searches, mortgage fees and broker fees. This at least shows commitment.

If you do end up selling to this buyer tell them you want exchange within 5 working days - this is very possible.

Err no, how on earth would the solicitor know about plant pots - they don't visit the property and aren't psychic.

Always blame someone else, also she said that she has only asked that they are removed and not left. Still odd, being that she hasn't mentioned the 15ft trampoline, slide (she doesn't have kids) garden benches or table to be removed. Just the plant pots.

It's neither here nor there, she should've thought about all these things back in June/July latest.
