Moving to Aylesford or Ryarsh

We currently live in Orpington in Kent and we are thinking about moving a bit further out in order to buy a bigger house. We have looked at two Redrow developments, one in Ryarsh just outside West Malling and the other is Preston Halls in Aylesford which is a bit cheaper than Ryarsh. I've always loved West Malling, but not really familiar with any of its surrounding areas. Can anyone tell me what these areas are like - schools (I have a ten year old and a two year old), shops, things to do, nice areas etc? I'm also used to having shops, restaurants and activities for the kiddies to do within walking distance so I'm feeling rather worried about feeling isolated by moving fyet her out. Many thanks! So far out* NOT fyet her out.

It is completely different to where you are now- very rural.
West Malling is a nice town but not much to do in the area. nearest shops are Maidstone.
Good grammer schools but very oversubscribed.
It is near Kings Hill which is a huge estate of well off young families who have to keep up with the Jones. All buying bigger and better cars, holidays, furniture than their neighbours
Personally I think there are much nicer areas in Kent to move to.
