log cabin in garden as extra room

We could do with some extra space and an extension isn't really possible so I was thinking a cabin in the garden which could be used as a playroom / spare room when required. Also there would be space for things like a chest freezer which we dont have at the moment. Has anyone done this or seen any good websites for ideas?

I am looking for one too!! Any luck? Our builders let us down.

My mum and dad have one - they don't usually come with electricity so you need to factor it in as an extra cost. The insulation is terribke so they're quite expensive to heat.

My friend has just built one. They have put a log burner in it and lots of cushions. I am very jealous.

A woodburning stove would be amazing. I am still researching them but there are a few companies are doing them. As I live in the cold north good insulation would be a must!

Huge price ranges, from basically no more than a shed to the equivalent insulation and construction as a kit house. I have one as an office cedar clad with full electrics, air conditioning etc - transformational...

Homestead is good....but I'm south. Well insulated.

Problem with a garden room is that getting out to it on a cold dark night isn't much different from being on a caravan site... whereas a room actually connected to your house..is well... a room IN your house.

Ours is 4.15 x 3.5m. Feels v spacious. No water though, but elect and panel heater. Light floods through it, it is quite a magical place, but feels separate from house, ifysim.

Tuin are brilliant for log cabins, we had one, had it insulated (roof and floor) when it was installed. We bought the 50mm thick one and it was as warm as toast in there with the panel heater on. Dc used it all the time and frequently had sleepovers out there. If you are having one put in and put electricity out there do also consider having outdoor lighting as dc used to have to walk with torches in winter to get down to it (was at the bottom of the garden)! Highly recommend them, our dc would love another one - we have moved house now.
