How long would you wait for a quote?

We had builders over last Thursday morning to quote up for internal renovations that are mainly adding insulation, underfloor heating and plasterboard in an existing room.
We haven't heard anything from them since and naturally I would have waited just over a week before I chased.
Is that the right thing to do or would you chase sooner or later?

It is quite possible to wait 2-3 weeks for a quote. Unless it is a bigger co
they sometimes get busy with lots of work and many do not have the spare
manpower to do the paperwork side of things In fact if they do seem to do
a lot of work and have been established a while it may been they are good
Imagine they may be writing up 3-4 quotes a week and builders do not excel with the written word.

Is this the only quote that you are getting? If you get another one then you can play the game of "we've had Quote B and we were wondering when we might get yours".
It might be an idea, if you do accept them, to make sure the quote includes a time frame for the work to start / finish!

Thanks Muddle, I know you're right about not sitting down to write quotes etc, they do have work to do as well. It is just a two man company so I can sympathise, I'm just impatient!
Senua- we will be getting other quotes but just wanted to check that it's actually something we can feasibly afford and not just a crazy idea. This company is local and their work looks good, they came over to quote 48hours after I got in touch.
Very good point about asking for a time frame as part of the agreement.

Should I aimed to get two more quotes? Is that enough? Its difficult finding builders we like as it is. I judge a lot on a website and pictures of work!
