Granite Transformations/Kitchen makeover

Our kitchen is starting to look tatty and we had a leaflet through from a firm who will replace doors and put a granite covering on our old worktop. Has anyone had this done? What are the costs compared to a new kitchen and does it last a while??

we looked into granite transformations but if you read the small print it is not granite but a composite man-made material that sits on top of your existing work surface.
We went for real granite and 3 years on still love it.

This sounds exactly like something I would want. I desperately want now work surfaces and sink but the prices I've been quoted are ridiculous, especially as I don't want a high end material. Can I just google this?

I know it's not "real" granite, and it just covers your existing surface. I was really after a quick/cheap fix that was better than what we have but not a "forever" kitchen!! I know that we couldn't justify replacing with solid granite at the moment as we will at some point rip the whole thing out and extend.

And yes, if you google it, you'll find them!

We had granite transformations it cost £2000 and was a lot cheaper than real granite. We are very happy with it.

As you can see we had a strip on the wall also and a high block behind hob to guard against oil splashes. We had to pay slightly more as one piece had to be removable as there is a boiler underneath and access was needed. I think surface is made of crushed glass.

A company may be quite pricey for the new doors. Just measure them,
check size of any hinges and buy new ones at a local store then get
a handy man to fit them

Looks really nice.

Yellow... Was just for the granite, the work surfaces, the upstanding (bit against wall) and the bit behind Hob. Not as expensive as 'real' granite.
