How to project manage a home renovation?

We have had an offer on a house accepted and going ahead with the purchase. There is a lot of remodelling work to do, extensions etc before we move in, currently we are in a rented property.

So we will engage with an architect for ideas and eventually builders, but my DH wants me to project manage the work, as I'm a SAHM and now have a bit of time on my hands. I'm quite excited about the challenge but nervous at the same time. Has anyone done anything similar and what tips do you have, what resources (online) did you use? What's the order of events? Just don't know where to start really, any help and tips would be widely appreciated!

We are at the early stages of a renovation project. Ours is going to be pretty extensive (possibly an understatement). Originally the idea was I would project manage as a SAHM but I know my limits. It depends how you are going to do it - use one main contractor who will do some project management and you just coordinate the extras? Or are you going to be trying to find plumbers, electricians to be on site on time etc? I read a book about project management which stated you can only have a maximum of two out of the three 'quality, quickness and cheap'. We will be using the architect to project management as quality is particularly important to us. I am expecting to spend time researching and ordering things and manage our finances but I don't want to be responsible for quality of building work or trying to source all the different trades.

I have the house builders bible. There are a few books out there that talk about this stuff but it seemed the most comprehensive.
