Has anyone painted their floorboards white?

Basically, was it worth it? Do you still like it.

We bought a house and the master bedroom was divided into two. We've taken the wall out, but will have to match up the floors which both have different laminated wood on top of them. Underneath is some old floor boards, which I'm thinking I could paint white and put a funky rug on top.

Anyone done anything similar?

Yes, three years ago in our sitting room. There's a large rug in the middle. It's completely lightened the room and I still love it. We used a Little Greene white, I think it was shirting.

That makes me feel better, thanks!

Any pitfalls I should look out for?

My sister has! Their house had very dark floorboards and not a lot of light (extended terrace) so the hallway and 'middle' room were very dark.

The white floorboards look great, much more modern and go well with their modern rugs and furnishings.

I can't comment on durability cos I haven;t looked that closely!
