Which Dyson?

Having managed to kill a Miele and a Sebo , I have decided to give Dyson a whirl!

Now usually I would relish a bit of online research, but I am sick to the back teeth of researching products as am in the process of planning a new kitchen.

Requirements - able to withstand a feral family of 6; a mixture of carpet, Lino and a solid wood floor (not sure if I can trust any vacuum enough for the latter!). Lightweight/manoeuvrable would be a bonus. The Miele was a killer weight and the Sebo was very wobbly upright to drag around.

Any recommendations most welcome as there appears to be a baffling number of models available!

I was going to suggest a meile cylinder.

I have a Dyson cordless v6 and a Dyson ball I also have carpets and lino and would highly recommend the v6!!! I use it basically everyday at least once and that's not because I'm ocd (although I do like to have a clean house) it's just because it's so easy and quick to use! I love it and keeps my house very clean :) the Dyson ball gets used only if I am doing a deep clean but for no real reason! Hope this helps abit :)

Thanks. Chloe94 - I've heard very good things about the cordless v6 but could I get away with relying only on that do you think? Does it do a through enough job?

Another vote for the cordless here. I cannot believe how fab mine is. Looks great on the futility room wall too

I've got a v6 and it does a great job everywhere apart from one runner and on that it doesn't pick up the dog hair. So I need my corded sebo for that which is a pita. The dog hair does tend to stick like Velcro to that runner. I can scatch the hair with my finger to loosen it first and then the v6 will pick it up.

So I don't think it's as powerful as a corded vacuum but I think most of the time it wouldn't be noticable. It certainly picks up loads of stuff. My stairs can look fine and I use the v6 on them and the cylinder thing fills up with fluff and hair and needs emptying!
