Insurance claim

Is this right? If you make your insurer aware of damage but even if you
do not in the end pursue a claim it will still go on your property history
record eg could bump up your premiums?
Thanks

Most policies say that you have to inform the insurance company of any relevant incidents even if you don't claim. If you don't inform them, then technically you are in breach of the terms of the policy.

FWIW I had this scenario in the past, but my premiums didn't go up. I shop around each year for the best renewal quote.

I wouldn't claim for anything insignificant, too much hassle. I see the insurance for major events like fire, flood or hurricane!

We once claimed for a collapsed ceiling ( whole room ) it was very difficult as we could not prove how or why it collapsed apart from being old!
