Georgian kitchen - ideas please!

We are renovating a Georgian house and planning to re-site the kitchen into the basement. The room is about 14' x 12' and has a fireplace. I would like a range cooker, thinking of a 5 oven Thornhill, if I can fit it in, and maybe a dresser and hopefully room for a dining table (we have a separate dining room but would like to be able to eat informally).

I would like something in character, not too fitted, but with enough room for storage. I can probably fit a larder in off the dining room, but need a sink, and dishwasher, and fridge (not washing machine or dryer as there is a laundry room upstairs).

I haven't done a project like this before, so was wondering if anybody could give me a few ideas or pointers about things eg furniture which would fit in, paint colours, floor surfaces etc.

All suggestions welcome!

We have had Neptune Chichester kitchens in the last two period properties we have owned and been very pleased with them (www.neptune.com/furniture/kitchens/chichester-kitchen/). We used a combination of base units, larder units, dresser and integrated appliances. They are not outrageously expensive and I also managed to source some ex display units on Ebay. They have an outlet at the back of their factory in Swindon. It's well worth a visit/call. I sourced about half of my kitchen there as 'seconds' but I could not see anything wrong with them.

Hi - I agree Plain English /British Standard /Neptune look works well with the period - if your budget doesn't quite stretch to that though - I've designed a couple of projects with mixed DIY kitchen cabinets to give a similar look - by adding feet too - will add a link to some images to show you ... www.houzz.com/uk/professional2/174782/oneplan
Hopefully that will take you to the page with all the drawings on?!

Maybe this one will work ?

Looks more promising ! Sorry ! It was using part inframe kitchen and part lay on door - both bespoke painted from DIY kitchens !

Hi pimmsperfecto

Just wondering how your renovation is going? Any progress? Hope your plans are coming to life…

We are in architect/LBC hell ATM Smile - I need positive stories to keep me going until we're actually allowed to start work!

TIA Flowers
