Which bath tap? Help me decide.

I like the simplicity of left, but the practicality of the hose of right, but worried the hose will flop in the bath the whole time. Whereas I'm worried left will make cleaning the bath hard, and rinsing hair tricky.

Can anyone help me decide...

The left definitely. I find the hose very handy.

I just hook the hose out of the bath so it doesn't bother me.

have you got a hot water cylinder? What colour?

the one on the right does look curiously complicated. What era are you aiming for?

What brand are they?

The one on the right is ridiculously old fashioned. There must be another tap with a hose that isn't so 'Lark Rise to Candleford'.

They are crosswater belgravia.

We have a Burlington vanity and the house is a cottage so didn't want to go ultra modern.

Do you have a shower as well? If you do, go for the one on the left. The one on the left - much, much nicer. The other one looks over-complicated and a bit tacky.

You can always buy a lovely pitcher or jug for the bathroom which can act both as an ornament and for the occasional sluicing/ hair rinsing.

Sometimes it feels as though MN is a parallel universe! The one with the shower spray diverter is fine if it fits with the house and decor. I would always have a shower spray on a bath if there isn't a shower over the bath otherwise cleaning and hair washing are a pain. A ceramic jug filled with water will be heavy.

I have something like the one on the right at the end of my free standing, cast iron, roll top bath. I also have a walk in shower. I can then wash my hair in either.

We have the one on the right. We didn't choose it, previous owners did.

It's a PITA and the hose has to be wrapped around the taps so that the DC don't pull the heavy shower head off its cradle and onto them. Also it sticks a long way out into the bath which is annoying.

You could get the one on the left and then have this one separately? That way you could put it higher up where it's out of the way.

Forgot to add - we never use the shower head for rinsing hair because it's such a PITA to unwrap it from the taps. So it's completely useless.

Ah yes, the one Batteries suggests, I missed that one, that's like the Lefroy Brooks one but Crosswater.

Although those deck mounted shower heads do have a reputation for leaking...

I looked at a few of those taps, the ones I looked at all said they were suitable for high pressure, which is fine if that's what you have, hence my question about a cylinder.

I can't see the one with the spout, but it looks based on an Edwardian design and I would have thought suitable for a high flow tank-fed system.

Bristan taps are high quality with a good parts availability, see if you like the look of their "1901" bath shower mixer. Their other traditional showers are separate from the bath taps. Personally I'm not keen on antique styling, too fiddly and difficult to keep clean.

Thanks all.
I had ordered and have the 4 hole one, but for reasons that are long and boring it won't fit in our bathroom.

I think I'm going to order the one with the hose, and then probably moan about it for the rest of my life.

Pigletjohn we've very high pressure, in fact yesterday the plumber said he was worried the pressure was going to take his skin off haha!

I've been looking at that vanity unit - the larger one, but it's a bit out of our price range. Can I ask where you got it from and are you pleased with it?

If you don't have small DC using that bath it will probably be fine.

If you do - I would really urge you to get a different style!

batteries I have to have wall mounted.

We've got three of them, and an imperial one.

I've got two of the cupboard units and one of the larger curved ones. They aren't out of their boxes yet!

I'm probably too late but we have three of the one on the right, chosen and fitted by the builder of our house, not by us.

I've not found them to be good quality at all and will be changing the remaining two when finances allow. One broke either when I moved the handle over from tap to shower fixture or when I turned off the cold tap, I can't quite remember now. I also find in our hard water area the heads need descaling far more often than anything else in the house.
