Completion day - buyer not transferred funds.

So we have finally got to completion day (it's been a looong saga!)

We are meant to be moving to our new house today and our buyer is expecting us to be out of the house for 2pm (I'm led to believe this is pretty standard practice?)

We have our van hired and friends sitting here waiting to go.

Have spoken to our solicitor this morning who is now saying the buyer hasn't released the funds yet (he's a cash buyer) and there is nothing we can do until he does. Seeing as he is pressuring us to be out for 2pm it seems a bit weird that he hasn't done this in advance.

Has anyone got any experience of this, or any idea how long this all might take. We only have friends around till afternoon time so need to get going ASAP!!

Hope you're in OP. This happened to us on a Friday. FTB at bottom of chain didnt pay in the funds until the afternoon. Hence the money didn't get all the way up the chain before the banks closed, completion didn't happen, and it was all delayed til the following Monday

Cue lots of people homeless for a weekend, aside from the FTB at the bottom who'd caused the fuckup.

Hope you're okay OP. We completed today as well and only got keys 3 hours after the funds were transferred. Slow on vendors part but also poor communication all round with EA and solicitors. So glad it is over and hope it is for you as well.

Thanks all. We got the keys about 1ish in the end. All moved in with A LOT of unpacking to do tomorrow!! Absolutely shattered!!
